8 Simple rules to live freely

When I started thinking of all this, the list was a lot longer, I broke them all down to simply things the best I could. Here we go.

Dear Self Pity, you’re kinda bothering me and my friends

Posted in Aggravating, my life on November 29, 2010 by The Speechless Gab Dork

I swim in the see of self pity. No doubt, it has been happening for awhile, probably since I was born.  I havn’t been very certain as to why. I gain nothing from it. I’m in a school I do not particularly like making grades that aren’t good enough for the school I do like. I work two jobs that require no skill and have no relevance to my career choice and therefore hate it. I am homeless and by my luck, friends have come to my side to aide me, until I can get back on my feet.

But last night, I started thinking “what got me here?”. After mapping it all out, I pin pointed it to two things “fear” and “selflessness”.

Because I never say thanks enough

Posted in Lives of Others, my life with tags , , , on November 25, 2010 by The Speechless Gab Dork

Well for starters Happy Thanksgiving. This was never really a holiday celebrated growing up, so I’m not greatly enthused about it as my social circle is. I am though thankful for many things, and though I wont be at any dinners to say this, I figure I’ll say them online. (P.S. DO NOT let this be the only time you feel to be thankful for what you have, and if you do, then you clearly need to re-asses your life!)

I’m thankful that despite some downfalls of the time, 2010 has been a most excellent year for me to remember.

I’m thankful for the time and a half I’ll be making at work today.

I’m thankful for the amazing clothes Threadless puts out every week, thereby strengthening the awesomeness that company is.

I’m thankful for some businesses being open for those that can’t afford to have a Thanksgiving dinner or will be alone on this day.

I’m thankful for the many people that’ll be at homes today, so I will not run into much traffic going to and from work.

I’m thankful that I am weeks away from graduating and getting a college degree (even if I’m not stopping to attain a higher one).

I’m thankful for the low temperature that’s coming pretty soon. (break out the winter clothes baby!)

I’m thankful for the farmer, to the laborer, to the grocery store all putting a hand in the food I will eat later today.

I’m thankful that even though I’m getting spam in my mailbox today, the majority of them had the decency to say Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m thankful that I’m still alive and kicking enough to be around friends.

I’m thankful for the friendships I’ve made within the year, and for the ones in the future.

I’m thankful for the people who are actually reading this and other entries(though some feedback would be nice from time to time).

I’m thankful for being able to freely flow my thoughts through writing, whether it’s through here or the stories I write.

I’m thankful for the friend who wants me to talk and actually does listen.

Bring on the noms gobble gobble

I’m thankful for all my friends, because if it weren’t for them, I would be jobless, homeless, and probably holding up a sign on the street asking for money (and quite frankly, I doubt I can pull off being a World War II veteran)

Thanksgiving Weekly Comics: 11/24/2010

Posted in my life on November 24, 2010 by The Speechless Gab Dork

If theres one thing I’m thankful for it’s comic books, and this week we’ve got six books to read.

Writer: Robert Rodi Art: Mike Choi Cover:Esad Ribic

Astonishing Thor #1

I enjoyed Rodi’s Identity Disk, as well as Choi’s past art work. Hopefully this will be a good book and not become a victim of Thor’s over publishing (It’s apparent he’s almost racking up the same number books as Wolverine now.)

Writer: Jonathan Hickman Art: Alessandro Vitti Cover: Jim Cheung

Secret Warriors #22

It’s the end of this arc and we’ve already lost a 2nd secret warrior. Can’t wait to see the conclusion!

Writer: Matt Fraction Art & Cover: Salvador Larroca

Iron Man #32

Dear Ol’ Tony’s at it again fighting a child of a former rival. When will Iron Man learn to pick on kids his own size?

Writer: Rick Remender Art: Jerome Opeña Cover: Esad Ribic

Uncanny X-Force #2

The gang continues their mission to kill Apocalypse! Hopefully Remender doesn’t put any of the roster through a full transformation.

Writer: Jim Zubkavich Art: Edwin Huang & Misty Coats Cover: Chris Stevens

Skullkickers #3

Not much to say more, its a badass book. Keep at it!

It’s the holidays, no links for you today. Happy Thanksgiving!

Me and the Deathly Hallows: Part Uno (May have spoilers if you haven’t read the book in 5 years or since you went to Prom))

Posted in films with tags , , , on November 19, 2010 by The Speechless Gab Dork

First and Foremost, I have to say wow. I throughly enjoyed this movie, despite the fact that I have only seen parts 1, 3, 5, and now 7 (haha) of the movie franchise (I have only read Books 1 and 2), but my girlfriend has managed to recap me and keep me up to date on the most important parts.

One of the aspects of the films I like is it’s display on the evolution of CGI, if you go back and watch the first two films the monsters only look convincingly scary because of how bad the graphics are. But Deathly Hallows had it on point, and hopefully Part 2 will top it next year.

Apparently, there’s so much in this book has so much in it, they split it up into two parts (But wasn’t Order of the Phoenix a big book too?), but from what I’ve been told they still removed a lot and certain characters are not . Eventually I find out the three teens (Even if they look like grown ass adults) have decided to cut school in order to further weaken Voldemort so they may defeat him (Lesson learned: sometimes school doesn’t do much for you and you gotta go out into the world to survive, teamwork helps too). It became a story full of depressing notes starting with the death of some loved characters and Voldemort’s take over of the Ministry and Hogwarts (aka pretty much the only two magic buildings anyone cares about) and ending with the loss of another loved creature i guess, he used to annoy me til this movie. ( Why couldn’t Jar Jar Binks get this same treatment?, probably because of his height). But don’t get me wrong, there were some bright parts apart from scenes in daylight, and Harry even did a brief dance number (Hey directors, next time just let him dance to some Dropkick Murphy’s).  Overall it wasn’t your average magical “everything is hunky dory” and I think over the past few books that is what’s still captivated HP fans (assuming everyone knows I’m not referring to Hewlett Packard).

Ratings: This wasn’t really a review, it was just my thoughts on the movie. Whether you’ve read the books or not, they are still good movies, and you shouldn’t let the overhyping of the Potter franchise cloud your judgement.

Side Note: Do not say “Asbestos Petroleum” to your significant other even if you know that’s not the spell and were only kidding. I gotta get some for this face now.
